How deep of a grind do I need?
There are many factors that determine how deep a grind is performed or needed including:

  • the size of the stump

  • how far below grade the is the stump

  • whether there are underground utilities in the area

  • what you plan to do with the area (i.e. plant a lawn or a tree, etc.)

Our standard is to grind 15" below grade which is sufficient in most cases. In the rare case, if needed, we are able to grind to 25" below grade.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for stump grinding or selective root removal?

Yes. It is best not to water the work area(s) for 1-2 days ahead of stump removal. Work areas includes any area our machines will need to drive over in order to reach the stump. This will help minimize any tire depressions in your yard and landscape and makes grinding faster, easier, and cleaner. Also, please move any patio furniture, garden art, hoses, or any other items that in or near the work area as well as in the path we will take.

Will Stump Masters handle Utility Locating?

Once the quote has been accepted, we call 811 to schedule the utility locates. First Darrell will outline the work area in white, water soluble paint, as required by 811. We do not charge for scheduling 811 nor does 811 charge for the locating.
We also scan the work area with a metal locator to help check for buried metal pipes or other hazards.

What happens if there is a weather delay?

If it has rained significantly within the previous day or two prior to the job, or if the rain is expected the day of your grind, we may need to reschedule.

Will Stump Masters confirm the job beforehand?

Someone from our office will call or text you the day before to confirm the job and provide a time frame within which you can expect us to arrive.

Does Stump Masters guarantee their work?

Yes! Our work is 100% guaranteed. In the unlikely event that we missed something during the job, we will be happy to come back and make it right at no extra cost to you.

What methods of payment does Stump Masters accept?
